The introduction of SSD disks turned out to be a very useful solution, as the introduction of this type of drive increased the parameters of the entire operating system. Due to the limited ability to save data, it should contain only the necessary documents that will be able to use the disk’s potential to the maximum. They are, for example, the operating system or disk-intensive applications. It is not recommended to install low-processing programs such as movies, photos, or other light files. The most suitable place for this kind of thing is external media or the very popular Internet cloud.
WHAT DOES AN SSD DRIVE CONSIST OF?
The most important parts are located under the housing. It is best if the thickness of the cover is 7 mm. Such a drive can be used in virtually any hardware, including ultrabooks, whose idea is to minimize the dimensions of the devices. In this case, the drive is connected to the motherboard. However, drives in a 9 mm casing are compatible with standard computers.

The controller is responsible for communication with the memory. It is he who determines the functioning of the disk, takes care of data compression and decompression, and the even wear of memory cells. If it is working properly, the entire drive is working fine. The flash memory already recalled consists of cells. There are 4096 or 8192 of them per page of memory. The cache stores data, which is later written to disk. You can also find information about the write speed there. The capacitor is used as data protection in the event that the power source is cut off. Therefore, it is worth checking if a given model has such a memory buffer, because many devices are not equipped with this component.
Interfaces provide communication with another device. The most common is the SATA III interface, offering reading and writing data at a speed of 550 MB / s.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF SSD DRIVES?
This type of drive is growing in popularity, especially due to its resistance to damage. Full electronic drive and no moving parts inside are the reasons for this resistance. A standard HDD, when exposed to external forces, may deteriorate, stop working, and thus lose all stored data. Structure of the SSD drive is much less energy-consuming than a platter disk, which extends battery life. Low energy consumption also allows you to lower the operating temperature of the computer, because the high temperature indicated by the hardware reduces the life of components and risks losing files. This does not cause any loss in performance. Also in this matter, the advantage over traditional disks is visible, thanks to the increased speed of reading and writing data. The SSD is also showing continuous development through the improvement of flash memory and interfaces.
This type of disk distinguishes quiet operation. The older the drive, the louder its work. Another downside of long-term use is the fact that the volume cannot be lowered in any way. The device with an SSD drive allows you to work silently and concentrate on it. A laptop with an SSD drive is suitable for people who travel a lot, as such a computer will lose weight and can be easily transported. It is especially useful in miniature equipment, the main feature of which is lightness.
The features presented above are the reason for the relatively high prices of this component. However, each computer user will find the right disk for themselves, because they differ in the speed of data processing or the memory used. However, this technology is replacing standard drives and it is certain that the price will drop.
WHAT ARE THE DISADVANTAGES OF SSD DRIVES?
The biggest disadvantage currently observed is capacity. Standard drives are 120 GB or 240 GB. For a similar amount, you can get an ordinary disk drive that stores up to several TBs of data. However, the continuous development of technology will increase disk space.
Unfortunately, the disks have a limited lifetime, which means that a maximum of about a million cycles can be overwritten. The underestimation of the parameters given by the manufacturers is related to the fact that they are obliged to specify the strength of the weakest components. The current technology already allows for an even distribution of data records between individual cells, hence it is difficult to exhaust the recording cycle in a single cell. If this happens, the drive will still be functional, but no data can be overwritten.
Currently, only the purchase price causes the lack of interest from all customers who still decide to choose a disk drive with a much larger capacity. On the other hand, after recognizing your preferences and parameters of the files you want to save on the disk, it is worth considering purchasing a much more efficient SSD drive
